A round of these Pumpkin Pie Martini co*cktails and some spicy snacks are all you need for a perfect fall happy hour. Pumpkin liqueur gives this martini its festive fall flavor. A cinnamon stick and a sprinkle of nutmeg provide the finishing touches to this yummy Pumpkin Pie Martini.

Ingredients

½ oz. cream liqueur such as Baileys Irish Cream

2 oz. vanilla vodka

½ oz. pumpkin liqueur

1 tsp. whipped cream

Cinnamon stick and ground nutmeg for garnish

Directions

Pour cream liqueur and vodka into a shaker of ice and shake well.
Add the pumpkin liqueur. Shake again.
Strain into a chilled martini glass. Then top with a teaspoon of whipped cream.
Add a cinnamon stick and a sprinkle of nutmeg for garnish.

It's made with either canned or homemade pumpkin purée and signature cold-weather spices like cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and ginger. You'll start by making a rich pumpkin spice syrup with white and dark brown sugars.

Pumpkin pie spice is the same as pumpkin spice, just under different labeling. These two are interchangeable and feature the same base ingredients. The ratio of the ingredients may vary slightly from brand to brand.

Can I Just Use Cinnamon? Since pumpkin pie spice is composed mostly of cinnamon, if that's all you have, just use that! Although your recipe will be missing some of the spice and flavor complexity, you'll still get a similar autumn feeling as you would with the complete spice blend.

For the base spirit, any whiskey is great (especially American expressions), aged tequilas and brandies and dark rums. Ideal modifiers include the likes of amaretto, Frangelico and Licor 43. I've made a Pumpkin Buck every Thanksgiving for the past few years and it's always a hit.

The Pumpkin Blondie is made with hints of white chocolate and pumpkin. For a finishing touch, it is topped with cinnamon + nutmeg. The Pumpkin Blondie is also available hot, iced or blended.

What's In Pumpkin Spice? Pumpkin spice (a.k.a. pumpkin pie spice) is an aromatic blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Sometimes allspice is included. You can buy the spice blend at the store or use ingredients you already have on hand to make DIY pumpkin spice.

Cinnamon + any of the other spices

For 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, substitute: ¾ teaspoon cinnamon + ¼ teaspoon ginger, allspice, cloves, or nutmeg (whatever you have!) ½ teaspoon cinnamon + ¼ teaspoon each of any of the two above.

Pumpkin spice, originally known as pumpkin pie spice, is typically made with a blend of ground cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and occasionally allspice. It doesn't actually have any pumpkin flavor in it — however, it is used to flavor a pumpkin pie, which is likely how it got its name.

Since it contains nutmeg and other similar spices, you can easily replace nutmeg with pumpkin pie spice in equal quantities in most recipes. Pumpkin pie spice is a spice blend made with nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. It has a similar taste to that of nutmeg and can be swapped in at a 1:1 ratio.
