Get ready, cricket fans! Jemimah Rodrigues, fresh from her stellar performance in the Women's ODI World Cup, is set to light up the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025-26! This exciting tournament kicks off on Sunday, promising a thrilling display of T20 cricket.
The WBBL is Australia's premier franchise-based T20 cricket competition for women. This upcoming season marks its 11th year, and the anticipation is building!
Good news for Indian fans: you won't miss a moment! All WBBL 2025 matches will be available for live streaming and telecast in India.
Jemimah Rodrigues is the sole Indian cricketer confirmed for this season, retained by the Brisbane Heat after the WBBL draft. She's no stranger to the league, having previously played for the Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.
The opening match will feature Rodrigues' Brisbane Heat against the defending champions, Melbourne Renegades.
But here's where it gets controversial... Deepti Sharma, who was the Player of the Tournament at the Women’s ODI World Cup, won't be playing this season, after being a part of the Melbourne Stars last season. And Smriti Mandhana, who represented Adelaide Strikers last season, didn't nominate herself for this season's draft.
The WBBL 2025 will feature eight teams: Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunder, Sydney Sixers, and Hobart Hurricanes.
Each team will battle it out in a minimum of 10 matches during the league stage. The top four teams will then advance to the knockout stage.
In the knockout phase, the top team from the league stage gets a direct pass to the final. The third and fourth-placed teams will face off in an eliminator match. The winner of the eliminator will then play the second-placed team in the challenger round, vying for a spot in the final, which is scheduled for December 13.
Melbourne Renegades, the defending champions, clinched their first WBBL title last season by defeating Brisbane Heat in the final. Sydney Sixers, Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, and Sydney Thunder have each won the title twice, while Perth Scorchers have also tasted WBBL victory.
Wondering how to catch all the action?
You can live stream the WBBL 2025 matches on the JioHotstar app and website in India. Additionally, the Women’s Big Bash League will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network TV channels in India.
