DD-WRT :: View topic - WRT1900 reboots and radio issues (2024)

I have a WRT1900acs that has 2 different issues

1. It randomly reboots on its own every day at least once. Sometimes up to 4 times.

2. The 2.4ghz radio will stop to function correctly. A reboot doesn’t seem to correct it. A hard power off and on will bring it back.

I started to do some trouble shooting in May. It was updated to the latest build at the time, no change. I’ve turned on syslogging and have it ship the logs to my synology. I was hoping it would shed some light as to why it keeps rebooting. Nothing shows up. All I see is the start up sequence happening before nothing out of the ordinary occurs in the logs. I have yet to capture anything when the 2.4 radio dies.

Speaking of the radio, what’s interesting is the radio is still beaconing the SSID. None of the devices are able to connect to it.

The radio is configured with a regular AP and a virtual AP (for the guest network).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I actually have 2 of these devices. One's an AC and the other ACS. They aren't both in service at the same time. Just a cold swappable spare. They both seem to suffer from the same issues.

You are lucky you get 7 days! At most I've seen mine go about a day.

Each time I have done an upgrade, I always do a reset to clear all the configs. It's a pain to setup though since I do have a lot of settings to redo (dhcp fixed IP's, APs and vAP, port forwarding, etc)

I could see how a serial cable would be more helpful but that's getting a bit more involved than what I'm interested in doing at this point. Is there a more contemporary model that's stable and plays well with dd-wrt?

Outside of that, patience and testing each new release is the modus operandi. Unless you will provide the information I alluded to earlier.
