Okay I'm having a lot of fun with Solium Infernum.

The way fighting works is simple: take each of the three stats (Ranged, Melee, and Infernal) and whichever Legion has a lower stat takes damage equal to how much lower they are in that stat. Fights start with Ranged and move to Melee then end with Infernal. But this gets complicated fast. Every Legion lends Support of one half (rounded down) of each of their stats to other legions. On defense, every friendly Legion adjacent to the Legion being attacked gives Support. On attack, every Legion adjacent to the region being attacked grants support. So if you're attacking with one Legion that has 3/3/3 and there's another Legion adjacent to that enemy with 5/9/1, the Legion that's attacking will hit with 5/7/3. There are also a lot of sneaky things you can do, like attach special Artifacts or Praetors to your Legion that do fun weird things like for instance make a certain round of combat happen first, or last, or not at all. Which can really f*ck with people's plans.

One of the players in my current game got really quite lucky with that. They did a big bet on a Vendetta against someone with numerically better Legions, but during the fights they had a Praetor attached that allowed them to win by shifting the Ranged phase to the end of combat allowing their superior Melee to kill the opposing Legion. At the same time, they captured one of my Places of Power while I was distracted by not understanding Support and losing a Legion to one of the other Archfiends. That catapulted them to the top of the leaderboard in a way that immediately pissed off or distressed everyone else.

Because of this, we're ganging up on him. Of course, I'm a sneaky archfiend so I'm making certain it works out best by far for me by exploiting several interacting strategic considerations:
1.) I've convinced the second-place person that I'm doing a Vendetta against them just because I need to go through their territory to get to the first-place person we both want to fight. This is sorta true, except that I'm also exploiting this opportunity to do a very intense Vendetta condition that should net me a ridiculous amount of VP in one easy go that's totally safe thanks to this being an agreement between equals rather than a real fight.
2.) The way that Hex ownership works is that first player to march a Legion into a Hex owns it, and after that the only way other players can get in is if they're in a Vendetta. But what this means is that you can use other player's Hexes as impassable buffers against an opponent.

Because of this, I'm going to march into my semi-ally's territory and immediately get a ton of VP. Then, my actual-enemy is going to react, but be totally unable to actually attack my Legions because I'm going to have a critical portion of my semi-ally's territory buffering my Legions.

Then, I annihilate them with Legions that are all kinda low-level trash, but there will be 4 of them to their 2, and my Archfiend ability gives all of my Legions a bonus to their Melee equal to my Wrath which is also the stat that lets you command more Legions. So I have a bunch of little gremlins that are all double-strength and can all support each other. Oh, and one of them has an Artifact attached that I think should negate basically all their tricky sh*t, if I'm reading the effect right. So that would be funny to see, turning their trickery back on them.

And as a cherry on top, my personal Bodyguard legion that when killed just reconstitutes later has popped back into existence ready to attack.

And the absolute best part of this is that I have no idea if any of this will work. There are Ritual spells that could f*ck with my Legion pathing, there are weird tricks to make combat go a different way than I expect, there are Rituals that just straight-up zap your Legions to death... I'm legitimately excited to see if this is the beginning of the end of this person or if they manage to trip me and second-place up and rocket to victory.

I don't even know how many actions per turn anyone else has! I have 3, but it's possible other people are working with 2, or it may be up to 4 for someone by now!
